Building a website step by step in a logical order is the key to having a successful website. First of let me say everything you need to do for building a website can be farmed out to professionals, but this will be at a price!

If you decide you would rather build your own website or you do not have much money to invest, not a problem there is plenty of online help available

There are a few basic things you need to make a website work

Building a website step 1- Domain name
Before you start building your site you need to choose a domain name, this is address of your site. Choose your business name or something that is closely related to your site that is easy for people to remember
It will cost you between $5-$10 to register a name (the one I use is godaddy.com).

Building a website step 2- HTML editor
This is the software that you will create your actual site on. There are many editors on the market and cost varies. At the top end you have Dreamweaver or Front Page ( they retail for around $300) or you can use a free editor like “Komposer” it may not have the bells and whistles of the others but it is a great one to start with

Building a website step 3- Hosting
Once you have your site finished and a domain name you will need to host it. This is basically a huge database that stores all the components of your site and allows other people to view them.
There are hundreds if not thousands of hosting companies to choose from.
Some are free but are not as reliable
When looking for a hosting company things to check are storage capacity, good quality tutorials and a 24 helpline

I know myself when I first started building a website how overwhelming it all can be (I put it off for months) but the key to success is to put aside the big picture and follow a recognised guide on building a website step-by-step then once you understand the process (honest it is not has hard as you think) you will have a new skill you only need to learn once and then you will be-able to repeat the process time and time again with ease

There are many guides out there ranging in price and quality, the one I always recommend is the one I personally used “create your first website by 3:45 this afternoon” a free step-by-step manual designed for the absolute beginner. Just click on the link below
